Curve Finance announced on October 29 that StableSwap now runs on Stellar mainnet. Its beta interface supports browsing pools, swaps and liquidity deposits, while some features of the broader deployment remain on the roadmap.
The release is a native implementation for Soroban, Stellar's smart-contract platform. Curve says its StableSwap mathematics is unchanged, but its existing Vyper contracts could not simply be copied to Stellar because the network does not run the Ethereum Virtual Machine. The contracts were rebuilt for that environment with support from the Stellar Development Foundation.
Protocol capability and interface availability differ
Curve explicitly lists swaps and deposits as live in the beta. Its announcement also describes pool creation as permissionless, while directing issuers to contact the team before the interface supports deploying pools.
Those statements concern different layers. A protocol can permit pool creation without the current website offering every step as a self-service feature. Curve lists pool deployment through the interface as the next addition, followed by more detailed pool pages and a router with additional metrics and data.
The Stellar Development Foundation's release also announces the mainnet deployment and describes potential uses by asset issuers and lending applications. Those potential integrations do not establish that other applications have already adopted the pools.
StableSwap is the first stage
StableSwap is designed for assets intended to trade at closely related prices, including stablecoins pegged to the same currency. Curve calls this a lite deployment and says it plans to bring more of its stack to Stellar.
FXSwap remains future work. That component is intended for pairs whose relative prices change, including stablecoins tied to different currencies. Curve says it will share the timeline and initial currency pairs once confirmed. Today's announcement therefore establishes the stated StableSwap release and beta scope, without a release date for the remaining interface features or FXSwap.
