The October 27 collaboration uses ACI Connetic to demonstrate how financial institutions can evaluate USDC settlement within existing payment operations.

Circle and ACI Worldwide announced a Colombian pilot on October 27 to demonstrate how USDC settlement can work alongside existing banking and payment systems. The collaboration combines Circle’s stablecoin infrastructure with ACI Connetic, a payments orchestration platform. Its stated purpose is to let financial institutions evaluate a settlement option within their existing operating environment.

The [companies’ announcement](https://investor.circle.com/news/news-details/2026/ACI-Worldwide-and-Circle-Collaborate-to-Bring-USDC-Settlement-to-Existing-Payments-Infrastructure-in-Latin-America/default.aspx) identifies Colombia as the initial focus. ACI built the central infrastructure powering Bre-B, the country’s interoperable instant payments ecosystem. That connection provides the setting for the pilot. The release does not establish that Bre-B has adopted USDC as a nationwide settlement asset or that every participating institution can already use it.

The mechanism being demonstrated is orchestration across payment rails. ACI Connetic brings different payment types into a single platform, while Circle supplies the USDC infrastructure. Institutions can therefore examine how a stablecoin settlement leg would fit alongside their existing treasury operations, governance frameworks and settlement processes. This is a question of how the systems connect, rather than evidence that institutions have replaced their current rails.

[Decrypt’s reporting](https://decrypt.co/381982/circle-pushes-deeper-latin-america-usdc-settlement-colombia) also describes the initiative as a pilot starting in Colombia. Neither that report nor the announcement identifies participating banks or supplies live settlement volumes. Those omissions limit what can be concluded about actual institutional use.

For stablecoin readers, the new development is a dated collaboration focused on implementation within an established payments environment. Its next meaningful milestone would be evidence of operational use, with named participants and a defined settlement scope. The current announcement supports a demonstration and evaluation effort; it does not establish a general production rollout across Latin America.
